The Role
As aBackend Software Engineering Lead, you'll guide a team of 8 Java and Kotlin engineers in the development and maintenance of our global accommodation marketplace. You will play a critical role in ensuring that the core of our business runs smoothly and efficiently, using state-of-the-art technologies in a cross-functional and collaborative environment.This is a high-impact role meant for someone with a background in computer science or other technical field and a proven track record in leading experienced engineering teams.
How you’ll make an impact:
Lead, guide, and mentor a team of 8 Java and Kotlin engineers
Ensure that your teams deliver high quality, scalable, and reliable solutions
Guide architectural decisions and drive the team in evaluating new technologies
Maintain a technical roadmap for our projects
Collaborate closely with the principal engineer of the unit, project owners, and data science leads to align your team's work with the company's vision and objectives
Communicate with stakeholders to ensure that your team's vision aligns with other teams and the company's vision
Help your engineers grow by providing coaching, feedback, and opportunities for professional development
What we’re looking for:
Solid experience leading and mentoring software engineering teams with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable, and reliable solutions
A strategic business mindset capable of translating business goals into actionable steps
Ability to balance between pragmatic and principled software solutions
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Problem-solving and analytical skills
A deep understanding of architecture and design patterns
Extensive experience in Java or Kotlin development
What makes you stand out:
A PhD in computer science or a similar field
Previous experience in working on data-heavy applications and collaborating with data scientists
Experience with technologies such as Redis, Kafka, Project Reactor, Prometheus, Protobuf, Kubernetes, Envoy, Istio, Docker or GCP
