Recruiting Privacy Notice

In addition to the contents of the trivago Privacy Notice these additional terms apply when you submit a job application to trivago or join the trivago Talent Pool.

1. Purpose and legal basis for processing

Our purpose for processing this information is to assess your suitability for a role with us. The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

If you provide us with any information about reasonable adjustments you require due to any disability the legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

The legal basis for processing any information you provide as part of your application which is special category data, such as health, religious or ethnicity information is Article 9(2)(b) GDPR.

2. What will we do with your personal data?

We use the information you provide during the recruitment process to progress your application and to assess your suitability for employment with a view to offering you an employment contract with us. We may also use it to fulfil legal or regulatory requirements.

We won’t share your personal data with any third parties for marketing purposes.

We’ll use the contact details you give us to contact you to progress your application. We’ll use the other information you provide to assess your suitability for the role.

You don’t have to provide your personal data to us, but it may affect your application if you don’t.

When you apply for a position with us or take part in the trivago Talent Pool, your personal data will be collected by a data processor on our behalf. This data processor is called Greenhouse and a copy of their data privacy notice can be found here.

3. What personal data will we collect?

We will collect personal data such as name and contact details. We will also collect other information such as previous experience, education, referees and for answers to questions relevant to the role. We will may collect publicly available data on you from sources such as LinkedIn. Our recruitment team and hiring managers will have access to all this information.

4. Assessment, test and projects

We may ask you to participate in assessments, tests, projects or occupational personality profile questionnaires, attend an interview or a combination of these. Information will be generated by you and by us. For example, you might complete a written test or we might take interview notes. This information is held by us.

5. Trivago Talent Pool

You can choose to take part in the trivago Talent pool. If you do so we would proactively contact you should any further suitable vacancies arise.

6. Data Retention

After you apply for a job with us, we will keep your personal data for 6 months and after this time it will be securely deleted. If you take part in the trivago Talent Pool, we will keep your personal data for 24 months, and after this time, remove you from the Talent Pool and securely delete your data.

7. Communication Tracking

Please note that we evaluate your user behavior when sending the e-mail communication. For this evaluation, the emails sent include “web beacons” or tracking pixels. For the evaluations, we link the data mentioned and the web beacons with your e-mail address and an individual ID. The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
